Salient Feature:

Any breed of Pet dogs (exotic or cross breed), Watch dog (deployed in security or surveillance), Police Dogs (deployed as sniffer, rescue, security or any other purpose) can be insured under this class of insurance.

  • EXOTIC BREED shall mean whose both parents are of foreign breed.
  • CROSS BREED shall mean, a dog one of whose parents are of foreign breed

WHO CAN BUY THE POLICY?
Any individual person, organisation or Corporate.


SCOPE OF COVER:

 
SECTION I

Policy covers loss which the insured shall suffer in respect of the dog described due to
    Death from any disease or due to accident. 
    theft of clandestine sale or running away or lost (including straying)
    emergency or mercy killing


SECTION II: 


Legal liability of the insured as an owner of the dog, in respect of 
    the bodily injury to any person or animal or 
    damage to property of any person caused by the said dog during the period of insurance 
    Maximum coverage under this section is up to INR 50000.


UNDERWRITING CONSIDERATION: 


    The age group of dogs: 2 months to 8 yrs. 
    Valuation & Health Certificate issued by qualified Vet. Surgeon. Vaccination certificate should be insisted upon. 
    Identification type: Metal ear tagging, Nose print, Cold Branding, Colour Photographs, Muzzle/Foot Impression. 
    Tag Number/Mark of the animal. 
    ORIGIN: Indigenous, Cross breed OR Exotic. 
    Gender: Male or Female 
    Height: in cms 
    Breed/Colour /Other Marks. 
    Purpose of use: Pet dog/Police dog/Watch dog 
    Vaccination details. 
    Purchase date.


PREMIUM RATES


COVER    RATE%
Basic Cover – Death due to accident/Disease     6%
Additional Covers
Disability Risk    1%
Breeding Risk: Death by whelping    1.5%
Loss of show entry fees to the extent of Rs. 500/-    0.5%
Public Liability in excess of Rs.50,000/- (on the additional annual limit)    1%


GROUP DISCOUNTS


    For 3 to 5 No. of dogs - 10% 
    For 6 & above No. of dogs - 15% 


ADD ON COVERS AT ADDITIONAL PREMIUM: 
    PTD – Permanent Total Disability. 
    Dog show risk – Loss of show entry fee, subject to a maximum of INR 500, if the dog insured is unable to attend the show due to perils under the policy, subject to a documentary evidence from the Kennel Club. 
    Breeding, Pregnancy and Whelping Cover, provided that, 
    cover shall cease to operate as soon as litters are born. 
    this Policy does not cover death of litters. 
    Public Liability cover in excess of INR 50000


EXCLUSIONS UNDER SECTION I


This section does not cover death or loss due to or arising out of or resulting from:
    Surgical operation (other than that required due to disease or accident occurring during the period of Insurance) and docking. 
    Malicious or wilful injury or wilful neglect unskilful treatment wilful poisoning or firing or intentional killing other than emergency or mercy killing or use of dog for the purpose other than that stated in the proposal. 
    Diseases contracted prior to commencement of risk or within 15 days from the date of commencement of risk. 
     Transit on foot other than that required for regular exercise/
    Breeding pregnancy and whelping. 
    Distemper Hepatitis and Leptospirosis. 
    These diseases are deemed to be covered if the dog is successfully vaccinated and/or inoculated against the above diseases before the commencement of the insurance cover and a certificate from a Veterinary Surgeon is produced to the Company). 
     War and allied perils. 
    Any disability whether temporary or permanent.


EXCLUSIONS UNDER SECTION II


Legal liability of the insured as an owner of the dog, in respect of 
    the bodily injury to any person or animal or 
    damage to property of any person caused by the said dog during the period of insurance
    Maximum coverage under this section is up to INR 50000
CLAIM PROCEDURE
    Intimation of claim. 
    Scope of cover should be looked into - verify whether the claim falls within the purview of the policy.
    Claims should be settled on the basis of indemnity only and only on receipt of discharge vouchers from owners. 
     Inspection by a veterinary doctor. 
    Identification of the dog to be checked to that provided in the proposal form.
